Thank you for volunteering
to help at the Corrieyairack Challenge.
The event has 3 types of competitors; walkers, mountain bikers and
runners. Registration is at the Lovat
Arms Hotel. As the Abbey closed a couple of years ago the race start is now on
the public road near to the Lovat Arms.
Walkers & Mountain
bikers start at 09:30. Runners at
11:00.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue
and local GP’s provide first aid cover.
1 – Assist with the count / check competitors past the checkpoints.
2 - Provide safety communications. If you have a report of a casualty BEFORE CALLING CONTROL be sure you know:-
the competitors location (where
on the route are they, are they still moving?)
the nature of the injury
the competitors number
what form of assistance you are
requesting.
The “new” numbering system
introduced in recent years is in use, see table below.
The important task is to
get actual competitor starting data from the start to the summit.

The event organisers operate
under restrictions about the number of vehicles that Historic Scotland will
allow into the pass. However the local
landowner in Ft Augustus is accommodating for Raynet and access is being
permitted from that side. For the
operator at Allt Yairack transport arrangements is being provided by the MRT.
NET CONTROL will be by the
START until the last competitor is past the summit when Net
Control will be passed to Garva Bridge. We will use 145.200MHz as the primary frequency and 144.800 MHz
as secondary. Inter-check UHF operators
should try 433.700MHz.
The Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) will be using their communication systems. Primarily we provide communication and control they provide first aid - but be prepared to “mix & match” radio nets!
