Dear Member AUTUMN
NEWSLETTER 2003
Thank you to all who helped at the various events this
year; from the Huskies through to Horses at Blair Castle and the Wade Walk,
Highland Cross, Lairig Gru and Corrie Yairack in between. An explanation about the Corrie Yairack and
Blair Castle events. I decided that due
to the rescheduling of the Wade walk and the addition of the Lairig event we
would be over stretched to provide our full service at the Corrie Yairack event
this year. Additionally the GP providing medical cover on the Ft Augustus side
had in recent years shown no interest in using us for communications. However, I was delighted to hear that on the
day a number of our members were operating, assisting the MRT. I hope that for 2004 we will be able to
develop this joint working with the MRT.
The Blair Castle 3 day Horse Trials used to be a major feature in our
group calendar. For many reasons this
event has had a lower profile although Steve 1VAD has attended most years
helping the Perth & Kinross group. This year Lindsey, Fiona and myself also
assisted, we took the caravan for the weekend and very much enjoyed the fine
weather. My apologies if you were
unaware of this event, you can always attend in 2004!

Thankyou for returning the various registration
forms and photographs. I will be sending
by the end of the October a print of contact details. When you receive this
let me know of any errors or omissions. I use some codes to sort entries in the
database, R is for registered members, F are
friends i.e. members of other groups who have assisted us, GC
are adjacent group controllers, U are user contacts.
www.inverness-ray.net is our own web site; it contains information about the group, the
events we help at and some general information & links to the national
RAYNET site. Unfortunately due to a
lack of time I have not kept it fully updated over this summer. I hope to get it seen too soon. Any suggestions for additional
pages/contents, text or for links to other sites should be submitted to me by
e-mail or the back of an envelope!
ww.raynet-uk.net is the national Raynet web site. You can check and change your own details by
logging onto www.raynet-uk.net/main/
and clicking on Members Area. Access is restricted you need to enter your
callsign and membership id as shown on the back of your membership card it
looks like (00)12345678.
Distributing information by e-mail is easiest and
cheapest. Packet is also easy although
formatting such as headers and tables are lost. Paper by post is slowest. I recognise we each have different systems
and preferences so I will send you information in the format that you chose
please let me know your preference.
Following a house move Arthur GM0KNT has been selling his
radio gear. He still has for sale a Trio TR751E 2m multimode and an excellent
homebrew HF ATU. I have these in Inverness if you are interested please
contact me.
Please let me know as soon as possible which events
you can help at or more importantly those you definitely are unable to
attend. Any questions or queries please
contact me remember our hobby is communications!
