Highland Cross - Hill Safety - PhotographsThese are some photographs taken during the 2001 and 2002 events. A view of Glen Affric from "Wooden Bridge" looking westwards, back to the start (beyond the mountains!) and another looking to the south. © GM4TNP 2001 event The bike xover is "Affric Quarry" bikes arrive by lorry and are checked, repaired and racked ready for the competitors. 640+ competitors have passed 10 checkpoints. Numbers are checked and soon the quarry empties as the competitors cycle to Beauly. Raynet provides radio communications and co-ordinate the safety cover. Injured or exhausted competitors are airlifted out (2002, 3). PDG provide a helicopter (thanks!) which operates from one helipad the Scottish Ambulance Service's Air Ambulance operates from another. Soon its all over for another year. |
